Rabbi Edward Harwitz, Head of School of the Jewish High School of Connecticut (JHSC), is pleased to announce that Robert Abrams has assumed a new role as the Consultant for Education and Planning.
Mr. Abrams will help to develop various strategic projects at JHSC as it prepares to open in the Fall of 2010. Mr. Abrams previously served on the Board of Trustees of JHSC.
"For years, the Stamford Jewish community has benefited from the work of Robert Abrams" says Rabbi Harwitz. "With his extensive experience as a Jewish educator and lifelong commitment to the Jewish community of Southern Connecticut, Mr. Abrams will bring unique experience, wisdom and energy to JHSC as we prepare for our pioneer class in the Fall of 2010."
Prior to joining JHSC, Mr. Abrams was the Managing Director for Jewish Life and Learning at the Stamford JCC where he was responsible for Jewish programming for preschool, camp, Annual Women's Passover celebration, Jewish Arts and Film Festival, as well as the Israel teen program. For nine years, Mr. Abrams served on the staff of Bi-Cultural Day School (BCDS) where he became the Executive Director and provided leadership in a variety of areas including financial oversight, fundraising, events planning and program development. In addition, Mr. Abrams regularly led the annual 8th grade trip to Israel.
A graduate of University Chicago, Mr. Abrams has an MBA, CPA and is also a graduate of Ramaz High School in Manhattan and Bi-Cultural Day School. Mr. Abrams lives in Stamford, is married, and has four daughters. A member of Agudath Shalom and Young Israel of Stamford, Mr. Abrams is also a skilled bass guitarist who is featured regularly in and around Southern Connecticut with his band, "The Bagles."
