Tuition Assistance

In the spirit of the Jewish tradition, JHSC seeks to help parents and students fulfill their desire for Talmud Torah (learning and teaching) through a process that reflects the highest possible levels of discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity. When family financial circumstances might prevent students from attending the Jewish High School of Connecticut (JHSC), families are strongly encouraged to apply for tuition assistance.   When making admissions decisions, JHSC does not consider a family’s ability to pay.   A student must earn admission to JHSC in order to receive tuition assistance.

JHSC strongly recommends that you submit your request as early as possible since tuition assistance will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.   Tuition assistance will be considered for late applicants if funds are still available.

How to request Tuition Assistance at JHSC

Requests for tuition assistance at JHSC will be made online through FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition) administered by Independent Schools Management (ISM), one of the leading support organizations for private schools in the United States.   FAST provides an easy and accessible online process for applying for tuition assistance along with 24/7 customer support. To access the online tuition assistance form, click here. Should you have any questions, please call  203.275.8448 or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. JHSC follows a needs-blind admissions policy.   Tuition assistance will be considered and awarded on the basis of the parents’ personal financial statements submitted to JHSC.   All tuition assistance awards are based on a review by the Tuition Assistance Committee.   When the Committee reviews requests for tuition assistance, it will do so without knowing the name or address of the family in question.   Requests for tuition assistance will be considered once a student submits a complete application for admission and the family completes the JHSC request for tuition assistance administered through FAST.   Tuition assistance will be awarded in conjunction with a student’s enrollment at JHSC.   Tuition assistance will be considered for late applicants only after JHSC considers all requests received by the priority deadline (December 20, 2011) and if funds are still available.

JHSC will strive to consider requests for tuition assistance and make awards consistent with the best practices of the National Association of Independent Schools. After the JHSC considers and processes a request for tuition assistance, a tuition counselor from the staff at JHSC will personally contact each family with a response.   The goal at JHSC is to handle requests for tuition assistance with the highest level of confidentiality, efficiency and sensitivity.

Confidentiality

Each family’s financial information submitted as part of the application for tuition assistance will remain completely confidential.   The information will only be used by the Tuition Assistance Committee to determine a family’s eligibility for need-based tuition assistance. When the Tuition Assistance Committee reviews requests for tuition assistance, it will do so without knowing the name or address of the family in question.
