Ernest Lamour, Athletics Director
To complement a growing faculty and program, the Jewish High School of Connecticut is pleased to welcome Ernest Lamour as the Athletics Director. A noted coach and manager of athletic programs in Fairfield County, Coach Lamour brings extensive experience in coaching and a commitment to sportsmanship.
At JHSC, Coach Lamour will personally coach basketball and baseball while overseeing teams in all athletic disciplines. As athletics at JHSC will be developed according to the interests and initiatives of the student halutzim (pioneers), Coach Lamour will meet with prospective coaches to prepare for the fall 2010 season. As a member of the Fairfield County Basketball League, Coach Lamour will work closely with his colleagues to bring league affiliation to JHSC teams. In addition to building a vibrant athletics program, Coach Lamour will also work with Rabbi Harwitz and Dr. Fuller on health and wellness programming at JHSC.
“Athletics is an essential component to a building a great high school and a vibrant community,” says Coach Lamour, who earned a Master of Science Degree in Sports Management at West Virginia University and a Bachelors of Science from Southern Connecticut State University. “Through our athletic teams, students at JHSC will build self-confidence and develop skills that apply to all aspects of their lives.” he added.
Coach Lamour currently serves as the Senior Program Director of the Stamford YMCA. While playing, coaching and teaching in many different settings, Coach Lamour brings special experience with teenagers and adults in Fairfield county, having served as the Manager of Sports and Recreation the Assistant Director of the Maccabi Games at the Stamford JCC. Most of all, Coach Lamour is a beloved and inspiring coach and teacher who is respected by students and parents throughout our community.
